Pukka Proofreading is the business name of Sally Brigham and was set up in 2013.

Prior to starting the company, I worked for over twenty years as a personal assistant in a variety of fields, including property, executive remuneration and medical risk. I proofread and edited letters, reports and documents.

In my spare time, I proofread and edited dissertations for student friends and novels for an author - for fun & for free!

Since setting up Pukka Proofreading, I have proofread and copy edited novels, memoirs, biographies, plays, poetry, rhyming fairy tales, translations, websites, apps, manuals, educational marketing material, and instructions for puzzles and games.

I am a Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) (previously the Society for Editors and Proofreaders), have a Higher grade in English and have successfully completed the CIEP's 'Introduction to Proofreading', 'Brush up your Grammar' and 'Introduction to Copy-editing' courses.

I am meticulous and flexible and offer a friendly proofreading and copy-editing service covering many areas of written material and publications. I specialise in fiction - novels, plays, poetry and fairy tales - and literary non-fiction - memoirs, biographies, travel writing, food/drink writing. No job is too big or too small.

I can work on-screen or on paper, blind or against copy. I can use the 2005 BSI symbols on paper. I can edit Microsoft Word and OpenOffice files on-screen using the 'tracking' facility. I can edit PDF files on-screen.
